Matt Ruth

Matt Ruth, Trouw Nutrition’s new Quality Assurance Manager, will manage the company’s raw materials, including specifications, testing, data analysis, Product Quality Assurance (PQA) certificate creation, new ingredient assessment and approval, Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) compliance, and collaborating with customers and vendors.

As Quality Assurance Manager, Matt Ruth will manage the company’s raw materials, including specifications, testing, data analysis, Product Quality Assurance (PQA) certificate creation, new ingredient assessment and approval, Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) compliance, and collaborating with customers and vendors.

Ruth began his career in quality assurance as a Quality Chemist for BASF, where he analyzed active ingredients for 80 different products and developed job safety analysis for several processes as a member of the safety committee.

He then moved to Cott Beverages as Quality Assurance Supervisor managing 16 lab technicians and batching employees, including overseeing their training. Following, he worked at Arcobasso Foods as Quality Assurance Manager developing a new quality control program, introducing a new electronic food safety and quality management system, and implementing new Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) plans for multiple new product lines.

Next, he served as Quality & Food Safety Manager for Swiss American, where he increased sanitation efficiency by a sustainable 10% through standardizing operations, introducing new technologies and improving the vendor selection process. He also decreased customer complaints by 10% through bolstering collaboration between the quality and production departments.

As QA & Regulatory Manager for Beck Flavors, Ruth developed the company’s first food safety and quality program and formalized manufacturing processes and assisted in designing a new food processing line.

Prior to joining Trouw Nutrition, Ruth served as Quality Manager for a major nutrition and health company providing solutions for humans and animals. In that role, Ruth implemented a new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, developed a new out-of-specification procedure and assisted in the design of a new food processing line.

Ruth’s certifications include HACCP, Advanced Safe Quality Food (SQF) Practitioner, Preventive Controls Qualified Individual and HazMat Operations, supporting his role as Lieutenant of the Village of Maryville Fire Department.

He earned his Bachelor of Science in Biological Science from the Southern Illinois University Carbondale and his Master of Business Administration from Lindenwood University.
