Michael Trapp, Territory Sales Manager, Trouw Nutrition

With over 40 years in the ingredients industry, Michael Trapp is one of Trouw Nutrition’s most experienced Territory Sales Managers. Using internal training tools he developed, Trapp takes the time to share his vast experience and insight with new employees and educate them about the industry. With a deep commitment to the success of Trouw Nutrition and its employees, Trapp goes beyond his sales role to mentor many of his colleagues and help them reach their full potential.

In addition to managing some of the company’s key accounts, Trapp oversees sales of vitamin and trace mineral premixes and blends to major pet food manufacturers in the United States and Western Canada from his home base in Phoenix.

Prior to his 12 years with Trouw Nutrition, Trapp spent nearly 10 years with a leading global chemical company as its Pet Food & North American Sales Manager selling vitamins and enzymes to feed and pet food companies in the U.S. and Canada. Trapp also spent 14 years with a Midwest feed ingredient supplier selling premixes and specialty ingredients to feed and pet food manufacturers in the U.S. He spent the first five years of his career at a family business in Technical Service and Sales.

As an active member of the industry, Trapp has held many leadership positions, including President and Quality Assurance Director of the American Veal Association, President of the Chicago Feed Club and Illinois State FFA Officer. He also earned Salesman of the Year honors from a past employer.

Trapp earned a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture Science from the University of Illinois, where he also belonged to the Gamma Sigma Delta Agriculture Honor Society. He received his Master of Science in Animal Nutrition from South Dakota State University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of St. Francis in Fort Wayne, IN.
