Trouw Nutrition Launches New Safety Portal

14 September 2020

Trouw Nutrition just launched a new environment, health and safety (EHS) online portal. Named EHS Insight, the portal provides a central location for major EHS initiatives, projects, tasks and even online safety training for employees.

To bring the portal to all of Trouw’s U.S. locations, a cross-functional team, including
Justin Raney, Manager of Regulatory Affairs and Safety for the U.S.; Keith Hughes, Environmental Compliance Officer; Todd Munsch, Health, Safety & Environment Manager; and Kent Schoeck, IT Operations Manager; spent two years overseeing its development.

“I am really excited for the new program because it will assist our business with maintaining a safe, secure and regulatory compliant platform for all our U.S. departments and sites,” said Raney. “In the past, our sites have used a variety of tools, including paper reports, spreadsheets and email, to manage risk and compliance, but with our new program, we can provide a standard solution for all of our locations.”

Justin Raney, Manager of Regulatory Affairs and Safety, recently hosted training sessions for Trouw Nutrition’s various U.S. locations on how to use the new platform. Prior to the launch of EHS Insight, employees reported safety observations by paper form, which did not provide a method for the employee to monitor how the report was processed. Now, employees can anonymously (or not) submit safety observations via the portal and monitor how it is being addressed, as well as review an impressive range of other EHS initiatives:

  • Audits and inspections scheduled and their results
  • Current and new corrective action statuses
  • Nonconformities with flow progress statuses and assigned employees
  • Report accidents and incidents to global with two clicks
  • Safety alerts

EHS Insight enables Trouw Nutrition employees to report and monitor the status of safety observations locally known as AWARE Hazard Recognition Program cards, as well as track the number of observations reported and the categories of those observations.

In addition to completing safety training online, employees can also track their progress on the courses assigned to them, as well as view optional courses. The platform provides access to 32 training courses with plans for more.

EHS Insight is an excellent addition to Trouw Nutrition’s robust safety program. Trouw Nutrition values the safety of its customers, suppliers, employees, our pets and products, and EHS Insight enables Trouw Nutrition to achieve its safety goal even more effectively and efficiently.
