Because of their reactive nature, the metal nutrients Manganese, Iron, Copper and Zinc may interact with other substances during pet food production and/or during digestion.

Many of these reactions can make these nutrients unavailable to the pet when absorption is needed. Chemical factors, such as pH and the availability of molecules for bonding, can influence how these metal nutrients react.
