As Senior Quality Assurance and Laboratory Manager, Scott Buchwalter directs all of Trouw Nutrition’s laboratories and oversees the company’s extensive Item Supplier Assessment & Management (ISAM) program. With over 25 years’ experience managing ingredients, Buchwalter thoroughly validates every new supplier, reviews all incoming ingredients, and supervises customer audits.
While serving in the Ohio Air National Guard for 26 years, Buchwalter joined Trouw Nutrition as Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs Manager. In this role, he oversaw Trouw Nutrition’s quality and regulatory program for the U.S., developed standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the plants and labs, and initiated the development of a laboratory information management system (LIMS) and near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy testing. At the start of his career, Buchwalter served as the Corporate Quality Assurance Manager for 12 years at a major vitamin and supplement manufacturer.
Buchwalter holds a Bachelor of Science in Analytical Chemistry, an associate’s in Pharmacy Technology, and an associate’s in Education and Training Management. He attained certifications in Advanced Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Current Good Manufacturing Practice and Regulatory Compliance (cGMP & RC), as well as training in internal auditing.
